Cebu Book Club has been sleeping for a while yet the CebuBookClubbers has constantly updating each and every one of their latest read and good find books. Everyone is excited to know what will happen if the book club awakes.
Here comes the anticipated moment a Book Party hosted by Cebu Book Club entitled Books, Biscuits, and Coffee Party. Thank you to the active organizers – Nancy of The Memoriter, Ken of Just Around the Flexure, Mimi of ScHiZoBLoggEr, and yours truly the party was a success.
The Wheel is Turning
It was everybody’s first Book Club Party or Book Club gathering so we make sure that everything will be perfect. Planning from the program, activities, prizes, people to invite, food and beverages and of course the venue. We are very blessed because Nancy has been on top of everything.
The day of the event, Nancy and I came to Cebu City Public Library, the venue of the event early to prepare the function room and arrange the prizes and food. We expected 15 participants. The party was supposed to start on 2:00pm but we announce that it will start at 1:30pm, you know Filipino time. 1:30pm came then 2:00pm and no one has arrived. I started to panic but then around past 2:00 a charming person approaches me and Nancy in the registration area – Billy Sienes a bibliophile disc jockey of one of Cebu’s top FM radio station WRock. Yehey! I voice out. Then a little while came Ka Bino Guerrero one of the finest tour guide in Cebu City. Then came Eleanor, lifestyle – education writer from Freeman and a book aficionado. Nancy decided that we should start even with few numbers because Cebu City Public Library closes at 5:00pm – government policy. Later on the start of the activity came Agnes Jimenez one of the pioneers’ of Cebu Book Club and we did not expect her to come.
We started of introducing each other and showing of our favorite book/s. The beauty of surrounding yourself with people who share your interest is that, you broaden your knowledge of that interest. On a personal note, I love books and reading but my preference are mostly new novels if not well-known books, but after hearing everyone in the book party I wanted to expand my reading and try classics, history, biography, literary and a lot more. The book trivia part makes the event livelier and everyone wanted to grab a book prize. What we did the whole time was talking about books over coffee and biscuits inside the Cebu City Public Library (function room) – How cool is that 🙂
Lesson Learned
1. If possible, events should be done during weekends when most people are off duty.
2. Not everyone who confirmed for the event will be present and there are those who will sursprise and attend.
3. Keep the ball rolling during the event even when the organizers are the only people in the venue. 😛
4. Invite people at least 2 weeks before the event date.
5. Make every event experience a lesson learned so that the next event will be a step closer to perfection.
BOOK CLUB OR NO BOOK CLUB, MAKE READING A HABIT.

The books and your bookmarks should have been featured here…all because I forgot to give them to you. Sorry! But we’ll have a book swapping activity soon! Yey! 🙂 Thanks for being a great partner (in crime—hehehe) 🙂
Because I am too overwhelmed of the activity I forgot to get book marks, but makes me more excited for the book swap activity.. 🙂 Same here Nance
