Bohol is one of the best tourist destinations in the Philippines. It is best known for its beautiful hills – the chocolate hills, tarsier, and white sandy beaches in Panglao. But did you know that there is more to Bohol than the attractions mentioned above?

Bohol Waterfalls that are must visit

As a nature-rich province, it is not shocking that magnificent waterfalls lie around the island. In this blog post let me guide you on a waterfalls adventure around Bohol. (We visited the waterfalls during the summer of March 2016 when the temperature hits around 48-50 degrees so you might see little water in the falls. All information is updated on August 24, 2022.)

Waterfalls of Bohol

Bohol Waterfalls Complete Itinerary

There are several ways to get around the various waterfalls in Bohol. You can either rent a car/van/jeep/motorbike or ride the bus. I recommend that you rent your transport because the towns are far from each other and buses are not that frequent, especially in the interior part of the province.

Mag-aso Falls

Mag-aso falls is located in barangay Can-omay, Antequera, Bohol. It is around 18.5km. from Tagbilaran City. There were two entrance fees, the first is 10 pesos upon entering the route to the falls then another 20 pesos upon reaching the main place.

Mag-aso Falls Bohol

To reach the falls you have to descend on a well-paved 197 concrete stairs under lashes of tall trees. The falls is 25 feet in height and you can see two beautiful waterfalls cascade. What I love about the place is it’s clean and peaceful.

Waterfalls in Antequera Bohol

Tips:

  • Entrance Fees – 20 adult and 10 children
  • Cottage Rental – 100 big and 50 small
  • If you have knee problems like rheumatism or have a hard time walking long distances or on stairs then this place is not the best for you.
  • Swimming is available.

Antequera Bohol Mag-aso Falls

Other Attractions in Antequera:

  1. Inambacan cave and Spring – small hardly distinguished cave and spring and there were people washing clothes when we get there.
  2. For more attractions visit Antequera Official Website

Inambacan Cave and Spring Antequera

Kawasan Falls

The falls is located in Candasig, Balilihan, Bohol, and about 22km from Tagbilaran City. Since we came from Antequera we did not pass through the main entrance going to the falls. If you are going for an Abatan river cruise it is the highlight attraction.

Kawasan Falls in Balilihan

The falls have green plants backdrop like that of the asik asik falls but are smaller in width. Aside from the falls, I enjoyed playing on the raft we found in the Abatan River.

Abatan River Bohol

Tips:

  • Entrance Fees – 20 pesos
  • Cottage Rental – 100 pesos
  • It can be viewed when having the Abatan River Cruise.
  • The walk going to the falls is short with flat grounds.
  • Swimming is available.

Balilihan Bohol Waterfalls

Other Attractions in Balilihan:

  1. Several other falls Camugao Falls and Niluksoan Falls
  2. Carmel Hill(centuries-old Spanish belfry)
  3. The Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (completed in the early 20th century)

Pangas Falls

Bilar is one of the tourist destinations in Bohol because it is where you can see the man-made forest, butterfly conservation center, and currently the tarsier conservation area. But only a few people know that there is also a beautiful waterfall in Bilar particularly situated in Dagohoy, Bilar, Bohol.

You need to travel 20 minutes from the highway going to the falls with the attractions of wide rice fields and province’s way of life.

Bilar Bohol Pangas Falls

Tips:

  • Entrance Fees – 20 pesos
  • You need to descend around 50 plus stairs going to the falls.
  • Swimming is available.

Other Attractions in Bilar

  1. Bohol Manmade Forest
  2. Tarsier Conservation Area
  3. Mijapo lake (just adjacent to the Tarsier conservation area)
  4. Rajah Sikatuna National Park (Magsaysay Camp)
  5. Butterfly conservation center
  6. Logarita Swimming Pool – the pool water is from a cave spring so expect the water to be really cold. My father is from Bilar and this is our family’s favorite go-to place, especially during summer.

Busay Falls

The beautiful busay waterfall is located a few meters away from the famous twin-hanging bridge of Sevilla, Bohol. What I love about the falls is that they are not a known tourist attraction. Not all locals know the place. We ask several people and only one bystander knows the place and he is even hesitant if the place he directs us is the Busay falls. He just confirmed it after I showed him some photos.

Busay Falls in Bilar Bohol

Tip:

  • Coming from the twin hanging bridge, instruct your driver to slow down and look attentively to your right and you can see the falls from the highway.
  • Swimming is available but not near the falls according to the locals whom I have spoken to because the current is strong.
Sipatan River Bohol

Sipatan River in Sevilla, Bohol

Other attractions in Sevilla:

  1. Twin Hanging Bridge – made of bamboo shafts and is 40 meters in length and 25 to 30 meters high from the great Sipatan River.
  2. Chichaworm – Organic fried worms sold in the other end of the hanging bridge. I like the chichaworm best with chili vinegar.
  3. Sipatan River – One of the largest rivers in Bohol that flows from several towns including Sevilla and Loboc.

Pahangog Twin Falls

The Pahangog Twin falls is 14km away from the national highway and is situated in barangay Guingoyuran, Dimiao, Bohol. The waterfalls don’t care if it’s summer because of their water abundance.

Pahangog Twin Falls DImiao Bohol

Going to the waterfalls from the drop-off point is an adventure in itself. You have to descend around 100 plus concrete stairs. My 62-year-old mama was with us during this trip and we walked for almost 30 minutes due to the many rest times.

Dimiao Twin Falls

Tip:

  • The entrance fee is 20 pesos.
  • Long tiny steps are going to the waterfalls. It is not recommended for people who have a problem with long-distance walking.
  • Swimming is available.

Dam-agan Falls

Located in Barangay Catugasan, Dimiao, Bohol is Dam-agan Falls. It is 600 meters from the drop-off point. There is only a little water when we get there but it is where the most fun happens. We enjoyed riding the bamboo raft.

Dam-agan Waterfalls Dimiao

Tip:

  • Entrance Fees: 15yrs. old and above 10 pesos, Below 15yrs. old 5 pesos.
  • Cottage Rental: 100 pesos
  • The stairs going down to the waterfall is short yet very steep.
  • Swimming is available.

To delve deeper, a tour option for exploring Bohol’s hidden waterfalls, including Dam-Agan, Pahangog, and the Tagbanue River, offers guided exploration.

Dimiao Bohol Dam-agan Waterfalls

Ingkumhan Falls

Another beautiful and not really off-the-beaten-path waterfall in Dimiao. This waterfall is the locals’ favorite swimming destination. It took 15 minutes to walk down the slope/steps to the falls.

Other attractions in Dimiao

  1. Ermita Ruins – It was allegedly used as a military fortress, a chapel, and a burial site of the members of the Spanish clergy.
  2. Ipo Falls
  3. Catugasan Peak
  4. Visit Dimiao website for more information

Kinahugan Falls

You can find the Kinahugan Falls in Sitio Karap-agan, Cabungaan, Jagna, Bohol. What makes Kinahugan more unique is that it has three cascade waterfalls. The place is beautiful but not well managed because it is privately owned.

Kinahugan Falls Jagna Bohol

Tip:

  • No entrance fee.
  • No cottage.
  • Swimming is available.
  • Short walking distance and flat grounds.

Other Attractions in Jagna

  1. Hiking Trail in Jagna – 3 Mountain in one day.
  2. Buy Calamay – Bohol’s famous delicacy and what Jagna is known for.

Can-umantad Falls

The tallest waterfall in Bohol is the Can-umantad falls in barangay Cadapdapan, Candijay, Bohol. It is a two-cascade waterfall just below the beautiful rice terraces of Candijay. Even with little water, you can see the power that the 60 ft. waterfalls bear.

Camugao Falls

Camugao waterfall is located in Balilihan, Bohol, and is considered one of the most enchanting falls in Bohol. A habal-habal ride plus another 15-minute hike is needed to reach this waterfall. The entrance fee is 25 pesos.

Kilab-kilab Falls

Kilab-kilab waterfall is found in San-isidro, Bohol. It is one of the preserved falls in Bohol due to its difficulty to get to. What makes the trip to Kilab-kilab waterfall perfect is that it has a nearby cave where stalactites and stalagmites formation can be found. You can also climb up to the cave and dive 5 meters to the waterfall pool. Always check the depth of the water before jumping.

As always, traveling is more fun when shared with the best people in your life. Cheers to my squad. Can you spot my mama in our jump shot?

Hi me and my wife loves chasing waterfalls. Can i request for your itinerary please.

Hi Lowell
Sent you the itinerary. Enjoy the waterfalls in Bohol and don’ forget to share your experience after.

Some querries please:
1. How long did you finish this Chasing Bohol waterfalls.
2. What is your mode of transport?
3. Did you start in Tagbilaran to Mag aso and finish in
Canumantad waterfalls?

Thanks

Hi Lowell, It took us a whole day for the waterfalls hopping. We started around 7am and ended around 6pm. We started from Jagna, since I live there so around 1 hour travel time to Tagbilaran. We rented a van because the waterfalls are far from one another. We start from the farthest which is Mag-aso falls and ended at Canumantad since it is nearer from Jagna.

Recommendation:
If you are from Tagbilaran. Start from Can-umantad since it is the farthest on your end then followed by the waterfalls in Dimiao then break for lunch then the other side from Mag-aso Falls.

Hi Geemiz,

Hello!
Great blog! Can you also send me ur itinerary complete with time + expenses? My family will be there this holy week it will be a big help.
Tnx.

Hi Geemiz,

Thank you for your very informative travel blog. I am going to Panglao Bohol this June with children and senior of our family. We would like to enjoy the beauty of waterfalls.Which waterfall would you recommend that is closer to Panglao and not too challenging to children and senior? And of course, no need to take motorcycle or motorbike.

Appreciate your response in advance.

Hi Evelyn all the waterfalls are far from Panglao and it really depends on the ability of the senior citizen. I have added the difficulty level on the blog post.

Looking forward to a fun-filled adventures in Bohol:

1. visit to 7 churches
2. chasing 7 waterfalls
3. virgin, pamilacan & balicasag islands hopping (swim w/ turtles & dolphins)
4. panglao beach run
5. sample bohol cuisine & delicacies

thank you for an informative article above.
