The initial plan was to tour around Thailand for an entire week but upon realizing that Cambodia can be land trip from Thailand, the plan has changed and included Cambodia on this Southeast Asia itinerary. The main destination is Siem Reap where we can find the Angkor Wat – the largest religious monument in the world and of course Ta Phrom – an unrestored monastery famous for large trees sprouting out of the temple. But it’s more famous as “Tomb Raider Temple” or the “Angelina Jolie Temple” due to its depiction in the film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
Thailand is very much known as the backpacker’s haven in Southeast Asia. Cambodia on the other hand is where you can find the largest religious monument in the world. Since both are just adjacent then why not visit the other country if you are visiting the other. And crossing the border by land is what makes your travel memorable.

There are so many things to do in Myanmar and on top of the list is visiting the various Hindu temples and structures in the country which vary from city to city. You can go to Bagan for old brick massive temples, Mandalay for white stupas, and Yangon for the highly acclaimed ones.
Being overwhelm of the beautiful temples and stupas is normal and not to be ashamed of. Even I was engulfed of the temples in Myanmar. Good thing, my friend decided that we take a break from temple-hopping and get some fresh air 100km away northeast of Mandalay.
Bagan is an ancient city in Myanmar. There are about over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries built between the 11th and 13th centuries in the city. Presently there are over 2200 temples and pagodas still survive.
In addition to living life to the fullest, I went to another backpacking trip with babe and friends. This time we visited the beautiful South East Asia countries of Malaysia, Myanmar and Singapore. What I love about this trip is I get to see a first world country – Singapore, second world country – Malaysia, and third world country – Myanmar.

A day in Melaka is sufficient to view the beauty of the City but I recommend staying for a night. I read so many good reviews regarding Melaka at night. Due to the rustic feel of the structure plus the beautiful river banks the ambiance when the sun is out is romantic.
Choosing a place to stay when traveling is crucial in every travel plan. Accommodations are not just a place where you sleep and leave your bag, but it is your home away from home. There are so many things to consider in choosing the best place that being said it include budget and location. The place you choose is critical in the success of your travel for it might ruin or add an extra experience on your trip.
This is the final post of my crossing the border in my 26th birthday series. I left you in the last post where in we reach the border of Aranyaprathet.
How to cross Cambodia from Thailand?
We reach the border around 1:00 in the afternoon. Like other tourists, we walk straight to Thailand immigration for our passport stamp. I thought it would be just an easy line but it turned out to be one long and humid line. My tip for you when you are planning to land trip cross country is bring a lot of water and patience with you because you will be in line for more than an hour. Also try not to cross border from Thailand to Cambodia on weekends because Thai goes to the border to gamble making the line much longer.
In my previous post I have shared with you how we missed our flight from Cebu to Clark and how we traveled to Clark via Manila through The Victory Liner Bus. What I will be sharing is the travel I have from Clark to Bangkok, Thailand to the border of Aranyaprathet Thailand.
Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok
My travel friends for this trip are of course babe and 2 of his good friends Marvin and Andrew. Marvin is coming from Singapore so he will just meet with us at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
This is the first of three parts on crossing border in my 26th birthday series.
