It is impossible that a person in the field of accounting, maybe a professional or a student does not know Mr Conrado T Valix. He is a famous accounting instructor, author of several textbooks and reviewers.
One of Mr. Valix’s famous books is the accounting reviewer book Theory of Accounts. I can still remember the words of a friend who have successfully passed the Philippine Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure examination “If you will master the Theory of Accounts (TOA) then your TOA will be secured during the examination”. Those words struck me, so everyday I opened my Theory of Accounts reviewer and memorize questions from a chapter, but it did not work. It did not work not because I failed in the licensure examination but to tell you all, I have not yet taken the examination. I failed because after a day or two when I go back to the questions it seems that it is my first to encounter those accounting questions. My mistake is I only utilize the multiple choice part of the Theory of Accounts reviewer neglecting some other important contents of the book.
The Theory of Accounts reviewer is divided into 52 chapters. It starts from the very core of accounting the conceptual framework down to different financial statements like statement of financial position, income statement, statement of cash flows, and statement of owner’s equity up to the contents of the financial statements and the notes to the financial statements.
Though the reviewer is bulky I like it because each chapter before the multiple choices has a question and answer that is about the important and key points about a certain topic. The thickness of the book signifies that there are a lot of things to be reviewed.
The content can be easily understood because everything is very well said and the thoughts are simplified. The text of the reviewer is readable so there is no problem studying at night. Make sure that you have read and understood the accounting textbook before using the Theory of Accounts reviewer.
