This is the first of three parts on crossing border in my 26th birthday series.
My annual birthday routine is attend mass, ate lunch or dinner with babe and my family. This year it is different and exciting. I celebrated it outside the country and yes my first out of the country and I am visiting two nations The Kingdom of Cambodia and Kingdom of Thailand. How cool is that. To make it extra special, I am accompanied by the most special person in my life my babe. Let’s cut the chezziness
I am eager to share with you the experienced I had crossing 2 countries Thailand to Cambodia and celebrated my birthday twice. What I mean is because of the 1 hour difference between Thailand and the Philippines ( Thailand is 1 hour behind Philippines ) I encountered two midnight’s for my birthday, first is up above the South China Sea and second is in Bangkok.
The original plan is leaving Cebu City on Feb. 1, 2013 at 5:00 pm bound to Clark so that we will have time to stroll around Pampanga. Due to some tanga moments, we did not reach our flight, good thing there is a cheaper flight on Feb. 2, 2013 at 3:00 am to Manila and our flight to Bangkok is on the evening of Feb 2 so we still have time. Additional expense but we had no choice.
How to go to Clark from Cebu through Manila?
Instead of going home, babe and I decided to check-in in a hotel to be sure that we can ride our flight to Manila. Okay another expense but we had a good deal we only spend 700 pesos for our good for 2 decent room. We sleep early, wake up at midnight, and headed to Mactan International Airport. We arrived early, the domestic departure gate is still close, and the lady guard on post is still dreaming, yes she is still sleeping despite the number of people around her. There are already passengers waiting for the gate to supposedly open at 1:30 am but the gate opened around 2:00 am. We check in our things and depart earlier than our scheduled flight of 3:15 am
Reaching Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 4:05 am 15 minute earlier than expected arrival time, we walk to the taxi stand and told the driver to bring us to Pasay where the Victory Liner Bus Terminal is. We buy an aircon bus ticket costing 150 pesos each that will bring us to Clark. You have an option to ride a Philtranco bus in Ortigas, but so far, I have a cozy and comfortable ride experience with the Victory Liner bus, plus the bus has a decent wifi and good air-conditioning so make sure to bring jackets with you. We left Manila 6:00 am and reach Clark 8:00 am exactly 2 hour ride and all I did was sleep.
We disembark at Dau Bus Terminal but the signage says Mabalacat Bus Terminal so don’t be confused it is just the same terminal. We ride a motorela and paid 70 pesos going to the Guesthouse where one of our trips companion is waiting (Yes very expensive, they told us that it will only cost us 10 pesos each, well only God knows for that driver).
We ate breakfast had a good bath and stroll around since our flight to Bangkok is in the evening. I will have another post for the strolling we did in Clark. For the continuation of this article, visit Crossing Border in my 26th Birthday Part II and Crossing Border in my 26th Birthday Part III.
