It’s almost 2 weeks since I have written something. I have been a little busy with work and a lot busy with studies. Midterms will be next month and the next month after that will be my mockboard examination. But before the longer period of study time will begin I get a chance to stroll at once capital City of the Philippines Manila.

December 18, 2010 Saturday is one of the dates that I will never forget. This is the day that I had the first flight of my life and of course I did this together with my hubby. This day is the first time that I fly on an airplane. I really did not sleep that night of December 17, 2010 because I was very excited. Our flight is 6:30 early in the morning so an hour before our flight we are at Mactan International Airport. During the first minute of the flight I am a bit afraid but because of the beautiful scenery I feel at ease plus one of my wish is granted and that is to get near with the clouds. I am very much delighted watching the clouds and how I wish to touch them, they seem very soft.

We landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport around 7:45 am and rode a yellow taxicab. There are tall buildings here in Cebu but not as tall as those in Manila. Aside from the wide roads there are also sky ways, tunnel ways and railways which are filled with different vehicles.

We headed to Richmonde Hotel in Ortegas Avenue Pasig City where in we had reservation for an overnight stay. The people at the hotel where very respectful and they entertain us well. Aside from the elegant tall Christmas tree at the lobby the charming faces of the concierge makes the place more beautiful. Since our room will be available at 2:00 in the afternoon, we have decided to start our stroll. We left our luggage and went to our first destination.

The first stop of our short trip is at Luneta, also popularly known as Rizal Park. This is a historic place for us Filipinos because it is here where our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal was executed. It is in this place where he died for our country. We take poses at the tallest Flagpole in the country and of the popular Rizal monument. I wish to come closer and take a look at the stiff guards but sadly I was not able to go nearer because it is not allowed. At the left Side of the park where there is an entrance fee of 5 pesos you can see wall carvings of Rizal that shows his works when he is still alive. If you go inside you can see a 7-8 feet statue reenacting Rizal’s execution and 6 feet statue showing the last 3 days of Rizal at Bagumbayan, the place where he was hilled prison. Before you can stroll inside there is a person in charge who will explained what the statues are all about. There is also a Chinese garden inside the park and for the maintenance of the garden there is a 5 peso entrance. Inside the garden you will find plants of course and a statue of Confucius. A mini falls can also be found inside the garden. The place is best for a picnic and get together, I even saw some group practicing their dance. At the center most of Rizal Park is a big fountain.

I will be writing the next part of my weekend adventure afterwards. I had to prepare something for Noche Buena. Merry Christmas everybody.
