Where are the best areas to stay in Cebu City?
Sinulog is celebrated in Cebu City, thus it is ideal to book a place where the huge observance is celebrated.
The “best” area to stay in Cebu for Sinulog will depend on what you want to experience in the city. To help you identify the ideal areas that best suit your traveling style during Sinulog 2023, below are some guidelines.
Areas near and around Fuente Circle
The Fuente Osmeña Circle is a heritage site in the heart of uptown Cebu. It’s a rotunda park at the intersection of Gen. Maxilom Ave. and Osmeña Blvd.
• Close to the Cebu city’s nightlife areas and a few 24-hour dining establishments. We recommend having your accommodation in the north, north-west or west side of the Fuente Circle (whether right across the rotunda or a few blocks away), as these areas remain bustling even at night.
• Convenient access to major areas in the city. From this area, you can ride specific jeepneys that can bring you straight to the downtown area, the Cebu Business Park (where Ayala Center Cebu is) Cebu IT Park, and SM City.
Downtown Cebu
The hotels along and near Colon St., considered the first and oldest street in the Philippines, are great establishments to book especially when you want to be a part of the religious activities during Sinulog. Take note that Sinulog isn’t just about colorful parades and merry dances but also the City’s celebration to honor the Child Jesus, Santo Niño.

• Walking distance to the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu. Consider staying at least a block or two away from the Basilica Complex because the streets can be really crowded during the weeks prior to the Sinulog and most especially during the Solemn Visperas Mass (Saturday) and the Sinulog feast itself (Sunday).
• Plenty of local shops everywhere. The downtown area is a great shopping destination for affordable local items. Bear in mind though that people from all walks of life come to the downtown area, so make sure to keep your valuables safe and secure when exploring the place.
• Close to Cebu SRP. As early as August this year, the City’s mayor has disclosed the possibility of holding the Sinulog Grand Parade and showdown on the Cebu South Road Properties (SRP), which is a short taxi-ride away from the downtown area.
Areas near Cebu IT Park
Hotels and AirBnB stays along Salinas Drive and nearby areas provide a respite from the hustle and bustle of Sinulog activities. They may be far from the locations of major Sinulog events, but you can still have easy access to transportation (both public jeepneys and taxis) going to those locations. Cebu IT Park also provides a variety of dining options including restaurants, fast foods, and the popular outdoor dining place Sugbo Mercado. Ayala Malls Central Bloc is also located in IT Park.
• Easy access to major shopping malls in Cebu City.
• Closer to the airport compared to other areas discussed here.
• Closer to Lapu-lapu City where the best resorts and beaches are found.
Areas near Cebu Business Park
Accommodation near Escario Street and Ayala Center Cebu offers the same advantages as those located near Cebu IT Park. These areas are much closer to the Sinulog venues than those around IT Park.
