In my entire existence, of all the things I wanted to do, one of it is eating the “boodle fight” way. Boodle fight is a way of eating usually termed as an “eating combat” mostly performed by the militaries. Now boodle fight is performed not just by militaries but in most organizations as a sign of unity.

I have never been into military training before as much as I wanted to because the CAT program during my student life both high school and college was abolished and in most organizations that I am a member of, boodle fight did not exist or none that I know of.

Thank God that one restaurant in Cebu is offering the boodle fight. It may not be the same way of that in militaries where in everyone circles around the table with different menus spread and mixed in a banana leaf and all eat with their hands, but it is still a boodle fight. Group of foods spread in a banana leaf and you can eat using your hands (they provide plastic hand gloves) or you can use a spoon and fork and seat while you eat.

In Captain A’s Seafood Grill you can choose from 6 various set of food for boodle fight. They also have per serving food in which you can opt to include in your boodle fight menu or in case you just want to eat per order, but I am still encouraging you to eat the boodle way.

We decided on taking the boodle fight with lots of sea foods in it (sorry I forgot the name of the menu and misplaced the receipt). We have fried prawns (prito na owang), baked scallops, grilled squid (sinugba na pusit), fried ceviche/seviche anchovies with lots of onions (pinirito na gikilaw na tugnos), grilled pork belly (sinugba na tiyan sa baboy), tuna soup (sinabaw na tangigi), buttered crab (alimango), pinakbet and plain rice and java rice.

Below is the boodle fight dish we ordered and it says good for 4 to 5 person but I say this can full up to 8 persons.

Wow. Wait. So ‘boodle fight’ is where you compete with other people? So it’s technically like an eating contest too? Or what? Haha! Sounds cool!
